Essentia Health announced the 2026 All Star Girls Hockey Roster and two North Shore Storm players have made the Iron Range and Northern Minnesota team.
Reese Costley and Berkley Hoff, both juniors, join Team Maroon, which hosts fifteen other players from Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Greenway, and Rock Ridge. They will be coached by Nate and Zach Painovich from Moose Lake Area.
The girls will take on Duluth and the surrounding area on Team White, which features players from Duluth Northern Stars, Hermantown and Proctor, Cloquet, Esko and Carlton, and Moose Lake Area. Their coaches hail from Superior, WI: Doug Trentor and Scott Olson.
The game is set for March 10 at the Hermantown Arena with girls playing at 5:30 and boys to follow at 7:30.
The High School All Star Hockey Game Facebook page states, “This is more than a game. It’s a celebration of the players who have worked tirelessly to reach this moment, the parents who have supported them every step of the way, the teams and teammates who have shaped them, and the schools and communities that stand behind them.”
According to MN Hockey Hub statistics, Costley’s season reads like a blueprint for a complete forward. She has scored eighteen goals and added eighteen assists through twenty-seven games, and she has done it while carrying responsibilities in every situation. Her work on special teams stands out with four power play goals, five power play assists, and a shorthanded goal and assist.
She has taken only two penalties all season, which keeps her on the ice in the moments that matter. Her four game winners show how often she delivers when the score is tight. Reese brings balance to every shift and gives the Storm a steady presence that shapes the way the team plays.
Berkley Hoff has been the team’s most explosive scorer with thirty-four goals and twenty-three assists for fifty-seven points in twenty-seven games. Her production has changed the pace of games and forced opponents to adjust whenever she steps on the ice. She has seven power-play goals and seven game winners, which reflect both her finishing ability and her timing.
She plays with an edge that shows up in her seven penalties, and she has a scoring touch that lifts the entire offense. Berkley has been the player who breaks open tight games and gives the Storm a higher ceiling every night.
Their selections reflect the strength of the Storm program and the work that happens far from the spotlight. Both players have built seasons that stand out in different ways, and both carry the habits and consistency that come from years of skating in rinks across the North Shore. The All Star Game brings together talent from every corner of the region, but it also highlights the communities that raise these athletes.
Congratulations to both Reese and Berkley as they step onto the ice in Hermantown as representatives of their team, their school, and the families and coaches who helped shape their path.
