Senator Hauschild Launches Re-Election Campaign Focused on Putting the Northland First

Hauschild says Northern MN needs proven leadership that works across party lines and just delivers.

HERMANTOWN, MN. — State Senator Grant Hauschild officially launched his re-election campaign Monday at the Iron Workers Hall in Hermantown, surrounded by labor leaders, local officials, and community members who highlighted his record of delivering for Northern Minnesota by putting the region first. Hauschild’s plan is simple: stay out of the noise, focus on results, and ‘Just Deliver’ for the people of the Northland.

“In a time when politics feels chaotic and more divided than ever, Northern Minnesota needs leadership that shows up, listens, and gets things done,” Senator Hauschild said. “Everything I’ve worked on has come back to one question: does this put Northern Minnesota and the families who live here first.”

During his first term, Hauschild was a leading voice in finally tackling the rural ambulance crisis, and secured long-term funding solutions after years of inaction. He worked with local sheriffs and the Grand Portage Band to keep the Coast Guard on the North Shore, ensuring continued safety despite the abandonment by the federal government.

Hauschild guaranteed unemployment benefits for laid-off steelworkers and their families. He delivered the largest Social Security tax relief in state history, expanded child tax credits to help with the rising cost of child care, and property tax relief for the majority of Northern Minnesotans.

The launch event featured remarks from community leaders who spoke to Hauschild’s record and approach:

St. Louis County Commissioner Paul McDonald said, “Grant Hauschild understands that Northern Minnesota has unique needs and deserves its fair share. He puts the Northland first every single time and works with anyone who is serious about delivering results for our communities.”

Courtney Greiner, a local child care provider, said “Child care providers and working parents need leaders who actually understand the challenges we face. Senator Hauschild didn’t just listen. He acted, and families across Northern Minnesota are better off because of it.” Duluth Building Trades President Jack Carlson said, “Grant Hauschild stands with the trades one hundred percent. Whether it’s standing up for workers, supporting major infrastructure bonding bills, or defending collective bargaining rights, he has always had our backs.”

“This campaign is about continuing the work,” Hauschild said in closing. “Putting Northern Minnesota first, working across differences, and delivering real results for the people we serve.”
