ALICE KALLINEN (November 24, 1937 – January 29, 2025)

Alice Kallinen, age 87, of Silver Bay, died peacefully Wednesday morning, January 29, 2025 at Waterview Shores in Two Harbors. She was born November 24, 1937 to William and Violet (Cole) Widman in Brainerd, MN, and grew up in Pillager MN.

In 1960, Alice married Merlin Kallinen and moved to Silver Bay, MN, where they welcomed three children. Alice was an avid volunteer, spending many hours working with her good friend, Lillian Miller at the MN Veterans Home, leading hymns for ser­vices, and helping with Bingo, etc. She was a proud Foster Grandparent, helping chil­dren with their reading and schoolwork at North Shore Christian Academy. A faithful Christian, if the doors of the church were open, she was there.

Alice was preceded in death by her par­ents, husband Merlin, and brother, William (Bill).

She is survived by her children, son, Ed­win (Karen) of Silver Bay, grandsons, Tim­othy (Missy), Tyler, Trevor and great-grand­children, Olivia, Braelynn, Dorothy and Watson; daughter, Laura (Steve) Bailey of Aurora, grandson, Trenten (Angie) and great-grandchildren, Remy and Barrett; and son, Kevin (Laurie) of Silver Bay, grand­sons Zachary, Thomas, Jordan, Evan and Collin; brother Paul (Faith) Widman; and nieces and nephews.
