Suzanne Wallace, 72, of Silver Bay, passed away on October 10, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN after fighting to over-come a stroke she suffered in early August of this year. Suzanne was born on December 2, 1951 to Lonnie and Bobbie Akers in Enid Oklahoma. The family moved to Salina, Kansas where she attended grade school and high school and then worked in the telecommunications supply industry in Kansas City, Kansas until her retirement in 2017 when Kirk and Suzanne moved back to Kirk’s home state of Minnesota.
Suzanne met Kirk Wallace while he was working in the Kansas City area and were married in Olathe, Kansas in March of 2015. Suzanne is survived by her husband Kirk in Silver Bay, MN, her mother Bobbie Akers in Salina, Kansas, her sister Jay Johnson in Bluff City, Kansas, her sister Jamie Rains in Salina, Kansas, her brother Mark Akers in Omaha, NE, a daughter in Overland Park, KS and three grandsons.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Akers and a brother, David Akers.
Suzanne loved to travel and spent winters traveling with Kirk in their motorhome all over the southern United States. She also loved traveling to many islands in the Caribbean, her favorite being the island of Roatan, Honduras. Suzanne was extremely kind and friendly and with her outgoing nature made many friends throughout the years. Suzanne will be greatly missed by her family, many friends and her loving husband Kirk.
A gathering of friends and family will be held later this year to celebrate Suzanne’s life.
