We are fortunate in Silver Bay to have strong interest in the upcoming election for mayor and city council members as demonstrated by the number of candidates. We have choices and that is good.
I support Wade LaBlanc for mayor. He is best equipped to continue progress on the economic development goals outlined in Silver Bay’s strategic plan and representing Silver Bay at the county and state levels. Wade LeBlanc has served the community very well in many capacities and should be reelected.
I support Ben Bautch for city council. Mr. Bautch has ably served four years and has earned another term.
Four years ago, James FitzGerald, a relative newcomer to Silver Bay at the time, ran for the council on a change agenda and lost. I was unimpressed. Mr. FitzGerald changed course and became a contributing member on three city committees. He is certainly better informed and has demonstrated his commitment to contributing in constructive ways to city government. Mr. Fitzgerald has earned my vote for city council.

I met Natalie Zeleznikar, when I moved into a setting she co-founded for seniors. While I live outside the district, I wanted you to know how lucky you are to have Natalie, as your state Representative. Natalie resigned from 24-hour operations in 2020, after 30 years as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She was instrumental in opening care settings in 10 communities in Northern Minnesota. As an entrepreneur, she designed a model for her own grandma Hazel who needed a higher level of care, which ultimately served many more.
Natalie’s high energy level and commitment is unmatched. When I eat dinner and look at the chalkboard on the wall with the daily thought for the day, and I am reminded once again of Natalie. That was her idea, and everyday a new inspirational message is chalked on the board. Natalie resigned but her legacy lives on with her passion to create healthcare teams committed to quality. Vote Natalie Zeleznikar, and keep a woman with tremendous experience at the Capitol to be a voice for aging seniors and those with disabilities. You will be glad you did.
Sincerely,

A representative democracy comes from the bottom up. The people who vote. The people whose voice is reflected in the government. This is a way for the government to act for the betterment of the people who elected them.
I would say that having a town become know as a tourist destination or marketed as such will only do two things. You know what they are. It means high prices and low wages for menial jobs. Just that simple. Let your vote reflect that. Plan ahead.
