First Congregational Church to host holiday event
Grand Marais, MN, November 11, 2024 —The First Congregational Church of Grand Marais is excited to invite the community to its 50th annual Thanksgiving Dinner, on Thursday, November 28, beginning at 1 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The doors open at 12 noon. The meal is free, but donations will be accepted.
This year’s menu will include roast turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, peachy sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.
The event was first held in 1974 as a way for individuals without nearby family to enjoy fellowship and good food during the holiday. But since then for many local residents, the dinner has become an important part of their annual holiday celebrations.
Volunteers Needed
The dinner is the work of many hands, as volunteers from throughout the local community join members of the congregation to prep food the day before; set tables; cook, serve, and clean up afterwards; run take-out dinners to waiting guests; and perform many other important tasks.
To learn how you can contribute to the success of this year’s dinner, please call Bruce Tyler at 651-315-1573 or Jenny Delfs at 218-370-0652.
Take-Out and Limited Delivery Available
To reserve a take-out dinner, please call Francie Beister at 218-475-2747. The deadline for reservations is Thursday, November 21.
