GIRLS BASKETBALL
Rick Ray came out of his recent retirement to coach this year’s Polar League All-Star Game on April 12 at Two Harbors High School. Two Harbors freshman Natalie Falk played in her first all-star game and held her own. Belle Bolle was voted first team all-star and earned her second overall Polar League all-star selection. She was chosen to represent Two Harbors as well, but will miss playing in the game due to upcoming shoulder surgery. Silver Bay’s Kinley Nelson also made All-Star this year and scored seven points during the game.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Two Harbors was represented by Jace Gomez and Carter Nelson, who were placed on opposite All-Star Teams at the Polar League All-Star Game that followed the girls’ game on Sunday. Nelson’s team came out on top, giving him bragging rights over his teammate.
SOFTBALL
Two Harbors Agates
After games against CromwellWright and Cook County were postponed, the Agates traveled to Pine City on April 11 and won 11–1. They also faced South Ridge, Esko, and Moose Lake this week, with results to appear in a future edition. On Friday, April 17, they head to Proctor for a 4 PM game.
Silver Bay Mariners
The Mariners opened their season with a 29–0 win at North Woods on April 10, according to Minnesotascores.net. They followed it with another win over Mesabi East later that day, winning 3-2. They also played Moose Lake-Willow River and McGregor last week. They host Cook County on April 21 at 4 PM.
Cook County Vikings
Cook County’s game against the Agates was postponed, but they went on to play Cromwell-Wright on the road and fell 4–1. They next faced Barnum and will take on Silver Bay in Silver Bay on April 21 at 4 PM.
BASEBALL
Two Harbors Agates
Opening games against Cromwell-Wright, Cook County, and Silver Bay were postponed. Their first game came April 11 at Pine City, where they lost 5–2. They also played South Ridge, Esko, and Moose Lake-Willow River last week, with results to follow. On April 20, they host Proctor at 4 PM.
Silver Bay Mariners
Silver Bay opened with an 11–4 win over Carlton/Wrenshall on April 9. Their game against Two Harbors the next day was postponed. On April 13, they beat Chisholm 8–6. They also played North Woods and McGregor last week, with results to be reported soon. They host Carlton/ Wrenshall again on April 21.
Cook County Vikings
Cook County’s opener against Two Harbors was postponed. They played Medford on April 10 and lost 14–2. Their game later that day against Mesabi East was postponed. They have since played Mountain Iron-Buhl and will face South Ridge on the road April 23 at 4 PM.
