Former WKHS Track Athletes Compete in College Track Meet on Different Teams

Two former WKHS track athletes competed in the same college track meet over the weekend of January 27/28 down in Menomonie, Wisconsin at UW-Stout.

Alexxa DeQuevedo, WKHS class of 2019, and Nate Bilben, WKHS class of 2022 competed for their respective colleges at the Warren Bowlus Meet on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Alexxa, who is in her Senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Superior competed in the Women’s Pentathlon, while Nate Bilben in his Freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire competed in the 800m and the 4x400m relay.

Alexxa had her best Pentathlon finish of her career, beating her former personal best by 300 points. The Pentathlon is an indoor multi-event that has athletes competing in the 60m hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, and 800m run. All of these events are completed in one day. Alexxa was a three-sport standout, competing in volleyball, basketball, and track. She qualified for track 4 years in a row, making All-State her Junior year. While in college she has competed in the indoor Pentathlon, the outdoor Heptathlon, along with individual events ranging from the 100m dash to the 400m hurdles. She has been named the UMAC athlete of the week multiple times.

Alexxa’s goal for this indoor season is to help her team with the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) team title. Due to the cancellation of the 2020 outdoor season, Alexxa will be able to compete in a fifth season in 2024. She is an Exercise Science major.

Nate, with only one college meet under his belt, was named the UWEC Athlete of the week for his mile performance (4:36) at the UW-Platteville meet on January 20. While in high school Nate was All-Conference in three sports (cross country, hockey, track), and competed in the State meet in both Cross Country and Track. He was All-State in Track his Senior year.

Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) meet in either the 800m or the 1600m. His last meet to qualify is February 18 at UW-Oshkosh. He is a Kinesiology Major.
