I am writing this letter in response to Glen Johnson’s letter to the editor [November 15, 2024] in regards to the waterfront hotel project. Some of his facts were incorrect. The hotel and conference center would not be located on land given to the city in the most recent land transfer. The hotel would be on the other side of railroad tracks of Castle Danger Brewery and would extend to the area west of the end of Waterfront Drive. The hotel would have no direct property on the lake shore. The land that they plan to build the hotel on is property the city has held for over a decade, it was part of the roundhouse transfer. I personally think that the hotel and convention center is a good idea and will positively help the tax base of the City and the County.
