Olive E. Aldinger, of 100, Two Harbors, died Monday, October 30, 2023, at her home with her family and best friends by her side. She was an amazing lady, loving and caring for her family with great faith in God.
She was born November 24, 1922 to Albert and Anna (Lambert) Lessard in Ingram, Wisconsin, where she grew up and attended school, graduating in 1940. She worked in restaurants in the Two Harbors area and was a homemaker through the years. Olive was an awesome quilter, making more beautiful hand quilted quilts than we can count, giving them to her loved ones. There was love in each hand sewn stitch, perfectly straight. She was also a wonderful baker and made many wedding cakes for grandkids and many friends in our community.
Olive loved doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, up to 5 days before her death. She was always stepping up to help whenever she could, especially making quilts to be given in hospitals or whatever cause was needed at the time. She sewed over 300 masks to be delivered to whomever needed them during the COVID Pandemic.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Albert Aldinger; 1 brother and 4 sisters; 2 infant grandchildren; and her late husband, Walter Aldinger.
She is survived by sons Kenneth Aldinger of Brimson, and Mark Aldinger of Brimson; daughters, Sharon Hellman of Brimson and Barbara (Randy) Merritt of Westhope, North Dakota; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Our family would like to thank all the Lake View staff who cared for Olive over the years, Agate Bay Assisted Living for their wonderful care over the 18 years as her home, and St. Luke’s Hospice team for their wonderful end of life care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. To share a memory or leave an online condolence, visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
