Lon was born Ross Alan Elfstrum on August 31, 1955 to Glendore Elfstrum at Riverview Memorial Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Lon was adopted by Frank and Marcella (Gifford) Alborn on October 11th, 1955 and baptized on November 17th, 1955 in the Chapel of Lutheran Children’s Friend Society of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lon grew up in Silver Bay, Minnesota where he attended grade school, middle school, and high school and competed in both football and curling. Lon loved his grandchildren and was always excited when they visited as was evidenced by grandchildren regularly walking away with bags of chocolate-chip cookies in hand.
