LAURA “MAXINE” (CALDWELL) MCDANNOLD (May 20, 1935- September 21, 2024)

Laura “Maxine” (Caldwell) McDannold, 89, of Two Harbors was born May 20, 1935 in the family home in Audrain County, Missouri. She died peacefully, with her family at her side, on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Barross Cottage where she had lived since August 2022.

Maxine was the eighth of 12 children born to Hugh Ramsey and Alta (Seeley) Caldwell. She married James LeRoy Mc­Dannold on April 26, 1958 in Pike County, Missouri, and their lives together followed Jim’s employment with various phone com­panies from Springfield, Illinois, to Iowa and finally Two Harbors.

Maxine was an active member of the United Church.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needle­point, crosswords, ceramics, traveling and camping. She also loved everything com­petitive, from sports to games, playing or watching – especially watching the grand­children and winning!

Maxine was preceded in death by her par­ents, her husband, James McDannold Sr., and siblings, Mary Mae, Agnes, Winnie, Lew, Hugh Ramsey Jr., Ray, Harry Lee, Roy, and Donna.

She is survived by Jim’s daughter, Vic­ki (Royce) Lenger; her sons, James (Terri) McDannold Jr., Danny (Polly) McDannold and Roger (Lori) McDannold; grandchil­dren, Ryan (Sarah) Lenger, Beth (Dan) Yae­ger, Miranda (Nick Swanson) McDannold, Matthew (Alex Hallstrom) McDannold, Jacqui McDannold, Justine McDannold, Sara (Garin) Hogan, Jon (Kate) McDan­nold; great-grandchildren, Graham and Rose Lenger, Amelia Yaeger, Adelyn, Ma­son, and MyKenna Swanson, Lincoln and Greta Hogan, and Grayson and Bria Mc­Dannold; sisters, Karen and Sharon Cald­well; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a local church or hospice.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the United Church in Two Harbors, followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery. To share a memory or leave an online condolence visit http://www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
