IRENE HALL (May 10, 1941 – September 18, 2023)

Irene Gruver Hall passed away September 18, 2023 at home in Montpelier, Idaho.

Irene lived her own life; her journey is complete. Peace – painless sleep – at last. We will miss her.

Irene Thressa Gruver was born May 10, 1941 in Princeton, Minnesota, to Ralph E. and Theresa M. Jewell Gruver, the eldest of five children. She grew up in Two Harbors, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. She later took some college courses.

On December 6, 1959, she married Walter L. Puent Jr. in Los Angeles, California.  They had one child, Cynthia “Chris” Puent.  They divorced in 1963.  In 1965, Irene married William A. Wingreene. They later divorced, and Irene remarried Walter Puent in 1969. This marriage ended in 1971. On May 13, 1974, Irene married Leonard Frazier Hall. He survives her.

Irene lived in many places around the country, and out of the country, during her lifetime, including Minnesota, California, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Utah, Key West, Cuba and Idaho.  In 2004, she and Leonard moved to Montpelier, Idaho.

Irene demonstrated chair caning at Utah’s Festival of the American West from 1982 – 1994, she was active in Irene’s Antique Restoration from 1973 – 2023, she was certified in CNC Lathe operation, she ran a B&B from 1995 – 2003 which she owned with her husband in Minnesota and she was active in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Auxiliary from 2004 – 2023.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Julie Gruver Hall.

Survivors include her husband Leonard Hall of Montpelier, daughter Cynthia “Chris” Bell (Brent) of Los Angeles, California, two grandchildren, Jessica and Graham; one sister Annette, Brook Park, Minnesota; two brothers, Ralph Jr. (Lonna) of Bonita Springs, Florida and Lester W. Gruver (Linnea) of Cambridge, Minnesota; brother-in-law Gary Hall of Indiana; many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will dearly miss her.

Irene’s motherhood included Leonard’s children without bias and she is also survived by Leona Marie Denne (James), Leonard L. Hall (Sherrie), and Ellen G. Cantrell (James), plus many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be buried in Silver Creek Cemetery, Two Harbors, Minnesota, on Irene and Len’s Golden Anniversary, at 2:00 PM, May 13, 2024. See also: www.matthewsmorturaryidaho.com/listings.

All are welcome to say final goodbye to Irene, a fabulous, caring mother to everyone in her life. An informal gathering with time for reflection by all attendees is the plan for a cemetery memorial service. Please, out of respect for Irene’s strong feelings, leave religion out of that service.  Your silent thoughts are your own.

Flowers will be welcome there. Melon (light cantaloupe) was her favorite, but flowers of any type or color will bring her deep joy in life.
