Dwight C. Solberg, 90 of Grand Rapids, MN died on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in the Grand Itasca Hospital.
Born on August 4, 1933 in Duluth, MN, the son of Carl and Ellen (Alvar) Solberg. He grew up in Duluth and attended UMD where he received his Bachelor’s degree. Dwight was a U.S. Navy veteran, spending 4 years on the Intrepid Ship. He married Betty Lou Polzin on July 19, 1952 in Bovey, MN. He developed, owned and operated the Sveden House Restaurants, served 4 years as councilman in Duluth, MN. Dwight was a retired chaplin from the Silver Bay Veterans Home. He was a member of the Grace Bible Chapel, throughout his life he was in lay ministry because of his love for his Lord Jesus Christ. He was on the committee of first national presidential prayer breakfast and later was on the first Minnesota state governors prayer breakfast.
Survivors include his wife Betty Lou Solberg of Grand Rapids, his children; Terry Lee Mershon of Memphis, TN, Mari-Lynn (Drew) Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Jon (Renee Johnson) Solberg of Coleraine, 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren, a sister; Naomi (Lowell) Weberg of Duluth, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Dwight D. Solberg, a grandson; Griffin Mershon, a brother; Verle Solberg and a sister; Nancy McGrew.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Friday, September 22, 2023 in the Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids, MN. Interment will be in the Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MN.
