January 25, 1939 – February 9, 2026
Charles “Chuck” Wallace Carlson passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026. He was born to Wallace and Lillian (Anderson) Carlson on January 25, 1939, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.
Chuck grew up in Duluth’s West End and attended Denfeld High School. At age 17, he left school to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. After completing his military service, he returned to Duluth to be close to his family. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a custodian at the Lake County Courthouse, where he never met a stranger. In retirement Chuck continued to spend his summers helping with lawn care and general maintenance at the courthouse. He formed many lasting friendships with cherished colleagues throughout his life. A lifelong and die-hard Vikings fan, Chuck held on to hope that he would one day see them win a Super Bowl. A devoted family man, Chuck worked tirelessly to care for those he loved. He enjoyed occasional visits to local casinos and, in his later years, found purpose and comfort in helping fellow residents at Monarch Waterview Shores.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lois Carlson; and his brother, Roger Carlson. He is survived by his son, Brandon Carlson (Jennifer); his daughter, Kobreina Carlson; and his sister, Linda Carlson. Chuck leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Micaela, Peyton, Grant, Grady, Isaiah, Nevaeh, and Olivia. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and friends. A special acknowledgment is owed to Jerry Carlson, who became a brother in every way that mattered.
Chuck will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Saginaw, Minnesota, on Friday, May 15, 2026, @ 1:00 pm.
