Charlaine (Schrunk) Ramnes, always went by the nickname Charlie. She passed away peacefully at her daughter Jacquie and Tim Eubanks’ home in Two Harbors, Minnesota, on April 9, 2024.
Charlie’s life was an adventure. She and her husband, Lyle were deeply involved in the shoe industry throughout the United States. She opened the way for other women to participate in an industry that had been exclusively male. She attained the position of president of the American Shoe Association. She was widely recognized for her accomplishment in design and involvement in shoe fashion.
After many years of successful participation in the shoe industry, she and Lyle began a new leg of their life journey. They established an island home on Rainy Lake, and they enjoyed fishing and entertaining. Charlie was the best fish cleaner in the neighborhood and always caught the first fish. Their island home was widely known for its warm hospitality.
Florida became their winter home, where their famous hospitality continued with friends and relatives and old customers that were drawn by her warmth, wit and wisdom. After 30 years in Florida, she returned to her beloved Minnesota with her daughter and son-in-law. She will be remembered as a true and loving wife, mother, grandmother and trail blazer for women.
Charlie will be especially missed by her grandson, Ryan Mikkelson and his wonderful family. Ryan admired and spent a great deal of time fishing, snowmobiling, and spending weekends with his grandma and grandpa up at the cabin.
We love you and will miss you greatly.
Funeral services are on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 at French River Lutheran Church, 5310 Ryan Road, Duluth, Minnesota.
