LAKE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER JANUARY 26, 2026

The Lake County Planning Commission sat in session at 5:00 p.m. on this date and conducted hearings and other business.

Motion by Bathke to nominate Michael Hoops as Chair for the 2026 Planning Commission term. Motion carried; Sve, Bathke, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed.

Motion by Sve to nominate John Bathke as Vice-Chair for the 2026 Planning Commission term. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed.

Motion by Hoops supported by Bathke to nominate Environmental Services as secretary for the 2026 Planning Commission term. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed.

I-26-001r– Motion by Hoops supported by Bathke to recommend to County Board 5-year approval with conditions of a renewal interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by Crown Creek Cabin LLC at 4622 Crown Creek Spur, Finland, MN 55603. The property is described as: That part of the SE 1/4 of SW 1/4 as desc in Doc No A000189417, 10 acres, zoned shoreland (Crown Creek & Unnamed Trout Tributary), R-2/Residential District, 5 acre minimum, Beaver Bay Township. PID: 26- 5708-02440. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed.

I-26-002r– Motion by Bathke supported by Sve to recommend to County Board 5-year approval with conditions of a renewal interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by Right Path LLC at 513 Salakka Road, Knife River, MN 55609. The property is described as: All that part of the SW1/4 of the SW1/4 lying S of the S line of the NLY 339.76’ thereof; & N of the N line of W 330’ of the S 600’ thereof & W & N of Line A & N of line B desc in Exhibit A Bk 135D pg 345; & W of centerline desc. In Exhibit D of said Bk/pg less the W 293.18 ft. in Section 20, Township 52, Range 11, 2.7 acres, zoned nonshoreland, R-3/Residential Disctrict, 2.5 acre minimum, Unorganized Territory #2. PID: 25-5211-20611. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed.

I-26-003i– Motion by Guenthner supported by Mayer to recommend to County Board 1-year approval with conditions of an initial interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by Donut Pirates LLC at 1928 Loop Road, Two Harbors, MN 55616. The property is described as: That part of SE 1/4 of SE 1/4 lying East of centerline of town road (TSC Road No 61SC3) in Section 16, Township 53, Range 10, 9.64 acres, zoned nonshoreland, R-2/ Residential District, 5.0 acre minimum, Silver Creek Township. PID: 29-5310- 16925. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed.

Motion by Sve supported by Bathke to approve the November 17, 2025 minutes as submitted. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed.

Motion by Bathke supported by Guenthner to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, Ellefson, Guenthner, and Mayer voted in favor; none opposed. Meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
