LAKE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT BUILDING JANUARY 23, 2023

The Lake County Planning Commission sat in session at 5:00 p.m. on this date and conducted hearings and other business.

 The hearing was opened by the Planning and Zoning Administrator with the first order of business being the election of Chair, Vice-chair, and Secretary for the 2023 Planning Commission (PC) term. Motion by Bathke to nominate Michael Hoops to a one-year appointment for PC Chair. All in favor, none opposed. Motion by Commissioner Sve to renew John Bathke to a one-year appointment as PC Vice-Chair. All in favor, none opposed. Motion by Bathke to nominate Planning and Zoning personnel as Secretary. All in favor, none opposed. Nominations carried.

I-23-002r– Motion by Shelerud supported by Unzeitig to recommend to County Board a 5-year approval, with conditions, for renewal of an interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by Gray Duck Resorts LLC (Adam Wedwick) at 878 Old North Shore Road, Two Harbors and legally described as: That part of the SE1/4 of the NE1/4, Section 10, Township 52N, Range 11W, as described in Document A000199411 2.53 ac, zoned R-4, UT-2 Township. PID 25-5211-10214. Motion carried, Shelerud, Sve, Bathke, Unzeitig, and Hoops voting in favor; none opposed. (PCR-23-001)

I-22-041r– Motion by Shelerud to remove from table the hearing originally scheduled, and tabled, on December 19, 2022 for the renewal of an interim use permit application submitted by–Mary Ann Kelly for the property at 6747 Highway 1 and legally described as: Lot 36 and the S 1/2 of Lot 35, Shaffer’s Subdivision of the N1/2 of the SW1/4 of Section 17, Township 57N, Range 7W 0.84 ac, zoned R-R, Crystal Bay Township. PID 27-5730- 17340. Motion by Unzeitig supported by Bathke to recommend to County Board a 5-year approval with conditions for the vacation rental home permit application. Motion carried, Shelerud, Sve, Bathke, Unzeitig, and Hoops voting in favor; none opposed. (PCR-23-002)

I-23-001r– Motion by Shelerud supported by Sve to recommend to County Board 5-year approval with conditions of a renewal interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by John Gregor on property located at 2437 Highway 3, Two Harbors, and legally described as: That part of the Easterly 708.69 feet of the SE1/4 of NE1/4, Section 4, Township 53 North, Range 10 West as desc in Document A000163165 10 Ac, zoned R1, Silver Creek Township. PID 29-5310- 04200. Motion carried, Sve, Shelerud, Unzeitig, and Hoops voting in favor; none opposed. Bathke recuses as is an agent for the applicant. (PCR-23-003)

Motion by Bathke supported by Unzeitig to approve the December 19, 2022 minutes as submitted. Motion carried, Shelerud, Sve, Bathke, Unzeitig, and Hoops voting in favor; none opposed. Motion by Sve supported by Bathke to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried, Shelerud, Sve, Bathke, Unzeitig, and Hoops voting in favor; none opposed. Meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
