Culvert work on Highway 61 at the Little Manitou River began October 6

DULUTH, Minn. (MN DOT) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation started culvert lining work on Oct. 6 on Highway 61 at the Little Manitou River just north of Little Marais. Motorists can expect flagging operations Monday through Friday at noon. Work will include some tree removal and lining of the culvert pipe and is expected to be complete by the end of October.

Work Zone Safety Tips:

  • Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
  • Drive undistracted. Avoid using cell phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating –while in work zones.
  • Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.

  • Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Do the zipper merge.
  • Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
