On behalf of your Two Harbors neighbors who take part in the Friday At Five rallies along 7th Avenue: It is not the intention of our group to limit anyone’s access to Lakeview Cemetery or to interrupt private moments when people choose to visit the grave of a loved one. We also believe the cemetery is sacred ground. When planning our events, we consulted with the Two Harbors Police Department on where we could gather publicly but not obstruct the comings and goings typical of a Friday at 5:00. They suggested that we gather on the public sidewalk along 7th Avenue and park in the cemetery so as not to have people trying to cross the street against 5:00 traffic.
While we will continue to respectfully and peacefully gather along 7th Avenue, we will ask folks who attend our rallies to park along the cemetery road closest to the back of the AmericInn so as to leave ample space for other folks seeking access to the cemetery. We will also ask rally attendees to keep the entrances to the cemetery clear so that others can easily enter and exit the cemetery.
We are a non-partisan group standing in support of inclusive representative democracy, the rule of law, separation of powers as outlined in the Constitution, fair elections and responsive representation by elected officials.
We will be moving our Friday rallies to Saturday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 starting on October 18th.
Sincerely,
Rick Evans
