The Lake County Humane Society is hosting its annual Bev Bright Memorial Pet Walk on Sunday, September 27th, at 1:00 PM at the Two Harbors Fairgrounds. As the shelter’s biggest fundraiser of the year, now is the time to start collecting pledges from friends, family, and neighbors.
Prefer not to collect donations but still want to join the fun? Everyone is welcome! The event features Rustic Inn pie, bingo, raffle baskets, and plenty of family-friendly activities. Pledge forms can be mailed directly by messaging the shelter on social media, or picked up from local bulletin boards around town.
This annual tradition has been running for over 20 years. It was renamed in memory of Bev Bright, a longtime volunteer and board member who passed away in 2012. Bev was known for her boundless love for animals and community service. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, who continue to volunteer at the event and lead the walk each year.
With over 100 people and dogs participating annually, the shelter hopes to make this year’s walk the most successful yet. The proceeds go directly toward caring for lost, abandoned, and homeless animals in Lake County.
The operations rely heavily on the staff members and volunteers. Their dedicated hard work even resulted in a completely empty shelter for a full day last year. What a remarkable milestone worth celebrating.
