The Two Harbors Girls Basketball team left the scoreboard lopsided in back-to-back wins against the Duluth Denfeld Hunters and the Silver Bay Mariners last week.
“The girls are playing better and starting to create their offense,” Coach Gavin Bopp said.
In what Coach Bopp posted as a “very nice team win” against Denfeld, three teammates scored in double digits. Junior Rachel Bopp had 21 points alone. Coach Bopp also stated the game, played on Monday, January 15th, proved to be the best free-throw shooting of the year at 74%. The final score was a whopping 60-45.
With that momentum, the Agates took on the Silver Bay Mariners the next night. Going into the half, the score was 44 – 29. Coach Bopp’s message to the team was, “Twenty-nine is too many to give up for a half.” The team only gave up 13 points in the second. Message received.
Delaney Nelson had a career high of 20 points. Rachel Bopp had 19. It was a good night for the Agates. The final score was 75 – 42.
The team went on to play Esko on Thursday, January 18th. The final score was 34 – 88 with Esko preventing a streak. The team will round off January by playing against Floodwood, Barnum, and Cromwell-Wright.
Congratulations on the huge wins, Agates!
