Two Harbors Agates Swim and Dive Team Celebrate Their Season

The Agates swim and dive team got together on Sunday the 10th to reflect on their season and celebrate their MVPs. Awards were voted on by all the athletes and the coaches to call out achievements in several categories.

MVP Varsity swimmer – Bella Imholte
MVP JR High Swimmer – Brynn von Goertz
MVP Varsity Diver – Harper Smith
Most Improved – Elizabeth Larson and Madison Brandt
Agate Heart – Kate Senst
Most Dedicated – Lilly Johansen
Hardest Worker – Kjersti Hansen
Academic Athlete of the Year – Ava Oswald-Swenson
Coaches Award – MJ Wharton

The success of these girls, both individually and as a team, has been fun to follow throughout the year. Not only has their progress in the sport been evident, but these talented athletes continue to impress. They hold the second highest GPA in the state for grades 10-12, an astonishing 3.98!!!

A special call out, Ava Oswald-Swenson was All-Conference this season. She will be captain of the team in 2024 along with MJ Wharton and Bella Imholte. Ava was also recently selected as the Two Harbors High School ExCEL award recipient, an award given to juniors who are active in school activities, are leaders, and are committed to community service.

Bella has had an incredible season. She was All-Section for the 100 backstroke and 200 free relay, she was All-Conference for 50 free and 100 backstroke, and she made it to state for the 100 backstroke.

And then there are the records Bella set over the year. In the 100 backstroke Bella broke the school record, the Rock Ridge pool record, the True Team meet record, and the North South meet record.

Not quite through with swimming yet, the team is currently helping the YMCA organize a swim meet for about 100 kids. The event, on January 6th, will be held at the Two Harbors High School. This is the first time such a large meet will occur at the school.

Congratulations to the team for all they’ve accomplished this year!
