[Two Harbors, MN] — Lake County is developing plans for a rehabilitation project on Bridge 38535 on New Tomahawk Road (County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 34), scheduled for the 2026 construction season.
New Tomahawk Road (CSAH 34) will be closed to traffic at the Stony River to accommodate the project, which will include replacement of the bridge deck and railings. A detour will be posted utilizing MN Highway 1 and St. Louis County CSAH 21 / CSAH 120 between Babbitt and the Ely Municipal Airport. The road closure is expected to last eight to ten weeks sometime between June and October of 2026.
