Hockey: North Shore Storm Overpowers Ely Timberwolves

As I started to raise my camera to get a good picture down by the goal at the December 5th boys hockey North Shore vs Ely game played at the Rukavina Arena in Silver Bay, #15 Aydon Althaus threw the puck on net and scored an unassisted, even-strength goal. I was about half a second from capturing the moment, but I was able to provide the boss with one of the after-goal celebrations. I’m a horrible photographer with the worst luck, but I try!

High School Junior Althaus’s goal would be the only goal of the first period, though the Timberwolves had three chances on the powerplay.

Ely was on the scoreboard within the first few minutes of the second. About 3 minutes later, #11 Ethan Meeks, a junior, scored on a powerplay. Previous goal scorer Althaus and #29 Jake Stadler, a senior, helped out with the assists. It would then be Stadler’s turn to score on a powerplay, assisted by #13 Kade Norman, an 8th grader who would also score the next goal, and junior #17 Cam Peterson. Norman’s follow-up goal was even-strengthened and assisted by Stadler.

There were no goals in the third, the Storm again killed off 3 penalties. The final score would be 4-1, North Shore Storm.

North Shore went on to play Hayward on December 7th, which resulted in a tie.
