Highway 61 Stewart River Work Traffic Impacts

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be paving on Highway 61 at Stewart River north of Two Harbors September 5 through 8, weather dependent. Motorists should expect intermittent flagging and traffic stoppages of up to ten minutes. The turn lane at Silver Fox Lane near Silver Creek will also be paved at this time.

On September 11, MnDOT will be shifting traffic on Highway 61 at Stewart River. Northbound traffic will be placed on the rehabilitated historic Stewart River bridge while southbound traffic will remain on the bridge that was constructed last year as part of this project.

Motorists should expect flaggers while traffic is shifted and pavement markings are installed.

Work is expected to be complete at Stewart River at the end of September.
