Two Harbors, MN – September 8, 2025 – The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging, Justice North (formerly Legal Aid Services of Northeastern MN), Lake County, and Aspirus Lake View Hospital are joining together to offer a free community workshop on advance care planning. The workshop will provide essential information and resources to help community members secure their futures through proper legal and medical planning.
Led by Kristin Parendo, lead elder law attorney with Justice North, this comprehensive session will guide participants through the process of creating advanced directives and other important legal documents. Attendees will receive all necessary forms and personal guidance on completing their documents, enabling them to leave with completed documents in hand.
The interactive workshop creates a supportive environment where participants can ask questions and work on their documents with expert assistance. Topics covered include:
- Understanding advanced directives and their importance
- Guidance on selecting a healthcare agent
- Completing healthcare directives and other essential documents
- Legal considerations for future planning
“Advanced planning isn’t just about preparing for the end of life, it’s about taking control of your future and protecting what matters most. Whether you’re 18, 45, or 85, documenting your healthcare wishes, legal directives, and legacy plans ensures your voice is heard when it matters most. These conversations transform uncertainty into clarity and are truly a gift to your loved ones, removing the burden of guesswork during difficult times while providing peace of mind for everyone involved. The best time to start was yesterday, but the second-best time is today,” said Ashley Craiglow, Development Specialist, Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging.
