The March Campaign is an annual campaign of Minnesota FoodShare, which is the largest grassroots food and fund drive throughout Minnesota; it brings together nonprofits, businesses, faith communities, and individuals to help stock and support the capacity of nearly 300 food shelves statewide. The March Campaign began back in 1982 as a way to restock metro food shelves but as the need became more evident, it became a statewide initiative the following year and is now in its 42nd evolution.
Supporting your local food shelf means more now than ever, as food shelves throughout the region are seeing record-setting demand for services. Food shelves serving Lake County (Two Harbors Area Food Shelf, Elijah’s Pantry & the Silver Bay Food Shelf) have seen a significant increase in household visits in 2022 and so far in 2023. In the past 6 months, the Two Harbors Area Food Shelf has seen a 71% increase in visits to our program compared to the same time last year, and in 2022 saw over 1,700 total visits to the THAFS. Both THAFS and Elijah’s Pantry are seeing a sharp increase in households needing assistance who had never previously utilized these services.
Please consider making a financial contribution or a donation of non-perishable items today. Financial donations can go even further, thanks to partnerships with our regional food bank which allows for greater purchasing power. Financial gifts made between February 27th- April 9th also have the power of being matched through the FoodFund. Please consider supporting your local food shelf today!
