Silver Bay Public Library is putting out a call for Artists who would like to share their creative talents at the library. The library’s new multipurpose room will serve as an art display space to host local artists. The goal of this program is to highlight the abundance of artistic talent in a wide variety of media found in the local community. Priority will be given to individual artists and small self-organized groups of artists who live in the library service area including residents of Silver Bay, Finland, Beaver Bay, Isabella, Little Marais and the surrounding areas. A display usually features about 8-10 pieces depending on their size. Each display will typically be up for two months.
Artists working with a wide variety of media are encouraged to apply. In addition to drawing and painting, media could include photography, weaving, quilting, wood carving, collage, framed prints of poetry, found object art, and beyond – creative works of ANY medium are welcome! Please note: all pieces must be able to be hung from the hooks on the Walker Display System, for example by a wire or claw tooth hook on the back of the piece. Artists who have not previously had the opportunity to display their work publicly are encouraged to apply. All experience levels are welcome. Two or more artists are welcome to apply together if they each have a few artworks they would like to combine into a display.
Artists (or a small self-organized group of artists) wishing to participate should submit the Artwork Display Application Form either in person at the library, by mail to 9 Davis Drive, Silver Bay MN 55614, or by email at silverbaypubliclibrary@gmail.com. The application form is available at the library and on the Library Department webpage at www.silverbay.com. Before applying, please review the Artwork Display Policy available at the library and on its webpage.
Applications must be received by Friday, May 16 at 5:00 p.m. From these applicants, artists will be selected for September-December 2025 as well as the 2026 calendar year.
