The North Shore Storm 10U girls’ hockey team is in the zone. After taking home the trophy at the Rocky Taconite Tournament in Silver Bay, the girls had their eyes on the prize going into the Great Lake Skate Tourney in Two Harbors.
Six area teams attended the tournament at the Sonju Arena held between February 3rd and 4th. The Storm started the weekend against Superior, WI. The final score that morning was 4-0, with the Storm shutting out their first game and setting their tone.
Next up, the Storm was against the Northern Tier. This team was a new competition for the Storm. The girls hit double digits on the scoreboard and goalie Holly Belanger got her second shutout of the weekend. The final score was 10-0.
“Championship Sunday was upon us once again!” said Alicia Norman, the Storm’s 10U girls hockey team lead. The championship game pitted the Storm against Proctor-Hermantown Blue. The team came out ahead again, with a score of 5-1, making them back-to-back tournament champions and a force to be reckoned with as they go into the playoffs.
10U District playoffs will be held at the Sonju Arena from February 25th through February 29th. Best of luck to the North Shore Storm 10U Team and congratulations on the back-to-backs!
