In 2022, we made history: for the first time ever, a Republican won an election to represent the great people of Northern Minnesota in the Minnesota House of Representatives. With only a 33-vote margin, it took the support of many volunteers, supporters, and donors who were ready for a new direction here in District 3B.
Serving as the State Representative for District 3B has been one of the greatest honors of my lifetime. Meeting constituents at Neighborhood Nights Out, townhalls, meet & greets, annual parades in Two Harbors, Hermantown and Proctor, Chamber events, township meetings, or one-on-one meetings have been my catalyst for seeking re-election in 2024. I promised to be accessible, available, and keep folks in the North updated on what is happening in the legislative session, and I worked hard to keep that promise.
As a 33 year old resident of this area, I am a committed public servant, not a lifetime politician. I serve on the Children & Families, Workforce Development, and Human Service Finance committees, as well as the Aging and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Task Forces appointed by the governor.
I am running for re-election in 2024 and will continue working on initiatives that support creating great communities. Some of my priorities include:
- Ensuring a strong commercial tax base, so that individual taxpayers are not required to absorb an additional tax burden.
- Fostering the growth and success of family and center-based childcare with high quality, affordability, and accessibility.
- Addressing non-emergency and emergency transportation needs for timely solutions.
- Advocating for the inclusion of the middle class in new housing initiatives.
- Pushing for the full elimination of social security tax.
- Securing funding for core services, and reducing unfunded mandates.
- Allowing Minnesotans to vote on changes to the state flag, rather than relying on an unelected commission.
- Promoting initiatives that bring more funding directly to the schools. Supporting Initiatives that support a lower age to access full teacher pensions.
While there is more work to be done, I am excited to share a few bills I authored that passed in the 2023 session:
- Nursing home funding to prevent more closures- HF3342
- Student identification cards to have mental health crisis telephone number- HF 1842
- Implementation of a specific criminal offense category addressing the unauthorized recording or capturing of intimate photos or videos within a person’s home or other area. HF 111
- Approved bonding for Two Harbors Hwy 61 road construction completion, Hermantown Hockey Arena, Rice Lake sewer/water/utility expansion, WLSSD cylinder restoration, Gitchi-Gami State Trail, DECC improvements, ATV-snowmobile trails, and so much more. HF 1613, HF 1128, HF 0416, etc.
- In addition, I proudly supported a bipartisan bill for lead pipe replacement to assure clean water statewide. HF 24
Working for you,
Rep. Natalie Zeleznikar
State Representative for 3B
