Tony J. Lieffring, 63, Two Harbors, died Monday, December 25, 2023, at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center, after a series of strokes.
Tony was born to Donald and Marlene (Hill) Lieffring in Frederic, Wisconsin and moved to Two Harbors shortly after. Growing up, he was involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, played trombone in the high school band, and later joined the Two Harbors City Band. After graduating from high school in 1978, Tony went to work in the construction industry, starting with Lake Superior Erection as a laborer and later transitioned to a cement finisher with various construction companies.
Tony dabbled with many hobbies: gunsmithing, beekeeping, taxidermy, cribbage, golf, fishing, and curling, where he also worked and made the “best ice in the area.” In his younger years, he spent summers on the farm with his grandparents.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don and children, Evelyn and Alex.
Tony is survived by his wife of 40 years, Liz; a daughter, Anna Lieffring; his mother, Marlene; brothers, Jerry (Leesa) and Dan (Cindy); a sister, Jeanne (Edward) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
