Missing Person Found on Seagull Lake in Cook County

May 15, 2023 – On May 14, at approximate­ly 11:24 p.m. Cook County dispatch received a call of a missing person on Seagull Lake. Due to the time that the call came in, it was decided that search efforts would begin im­mediately the following day.

Cook County Search and Rescue began to mobilize to include water, ground, and air searches of the area adjacent to where the person was last seen. The party was last seen paddling towards Trail End Campground. The party was wearing a personal flotation device and was an experienced canoeist.

Search efforts began and the missing person was located in the water deceased at approx­imately 7:42 a.m. The victim is identified as Mickeal Ray Brown, 63 of Montgomery, Texas. The body was be transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner Office for an au­topsy.

Responding units include Cook County/Gun­flint Trail Search & Rescue, USFS, and Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
