Standing for Freedom: Partnering with Destiny Rescue

The First Baptist Church of Two Harbors will be hosting a local community awareness and fundraising event on Sunday, September 13, from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Two Harbors, MN.

During the event, special guest Scott Stoutenburg of Destiny Rescue will share a powerful documentary, Operation Hoodwinked, showing how these rescue operations work in the field.

Operation Hoodwinked: During a chance encounter on the streets of Metro Manila, Philippines, their team uncovers a child prostitution ring operated by a ruthless female pimp. As the Destiny Rescue team builds their case, an unexpected turn of events forces them to think outside the box. Captured on hidden cameras, this race against time shows their creative efforts to lure the pimp into a trap set from over 1,500 miles away. Don’t miss this event to raise awareness and support for this cause.

For years, First Baptist Church has proudly supported Destiny Rescue, an international Christian non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to rescuing children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking while equipping them to stay free.

Human trafficking is a global crisis that affects communities of every size, even small towns across America.

The Reality of the Crisis:

Human trafficking and online sexual exploitation generate an estimated $11 million every single hour. Modern predators no longer just scout playgrounds; they actively target children through social media, messaging apps, and online gaming platforms.

  • 15,000+ total children rescued to date (over 28,000 total adults and children).
  • 3,513 rescues completed this year alone.
  • 1,600+ arrests made through law enforcement partnerships.
  • The Youngest Victims Rescued: An 18-month-old boy and a 4-week-old girl.

Rescue alone does not guarantee long-term freedom. It takes an average of $1,500 to rescue a child and equip them with the resources needed to heal.

When a survivor enters care, Destiny Rescue builds a tailored Freedom Plan™ to address their unique physical, psychological, and legal needs. Through reintegration programs across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, survivors receive the ongoing support necessary to process trauma and safely reintegrate into society.

What Counter-Trafficking Agents Wish Parents Knew

“The pain and trauma this causes are real… and sometimes it is even heavier than physical harm.” – Rescue Agent

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, children’s screen time has skyrocketed, but safety measures have not kept pace. Counter-trafficking agents share critical insights for parents navigating today’s digital landscape:

1. Unbound Online Freedom Is Dangerous

Curious children can easily encounter explicit material online and act it out without understanding the consequences. Unmonitored internet access, even on devices given purely for safe communication or harmless entertainment, can expose children to severe harm.

2. Predators Hunt in Plain Sight

There are no inherently “safe” online spaces. Predators actively use platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Roblox, and Minecraft to groom children. By creating fake personas and even utilizing AI chatbots, they build trust, exploit insecurities, and manipulate adolescents who naturally seek social validation.

3. The Risks of “Sharenting”

Well-meaning parents who frequently post photos and personal details online can unintentionally put their children at risk. Location data, school logos, and background details give predators precise information about a child’s daily routine. Public photos can be scraped and altered using AI. In 2025 alone, 1.2 million children were reported as victims of innocent photos being converted into explicit deepfakes.

Destiny Rescue is committed to transparent, effective stewardship:

– They are fully compliant with all seven standards of responsible stewardship.

– High ratings from Candid, Charity Navigator, the Better Business Bureau, and Excellence in Giving.

– Direct Impact: Over the last three years, at least 80% to 81% of all funds spent directly supported program operations that defend and restore children.

This is something they strongly follow. “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” – Proverbs 22:1
