The fields behind Two Harbors High School were busy last week as the Agate Youth Football Camp returned for its four-day run. The annual summer camp drew another strong turnout, with kids from across the community spending their afternoons learning fundamentals, running drills, and getting a taste of what football feels like when the season is still weeks away.
The program kicked things off on July 20. Coaches described the opening day as energetic and smooth, noting that the group “did a great job on their first day today” and that turnout was once again impressive. Varsity players joined the staff throughout the week, helping run stations, demonstrate technique, and keep the pace moving.
Day 2 brought more smiley photos and more signs that the pipeline is healthy. Coaches called it another strong session and said the future of Agate Football “continues to look bright for years to come.”
The mix of youth coaches, varsity coaches, and current players gave the camp layered support, with older athletes guiding younger ones through footwork, catching drills, and defensive basics.
Kids finished the final day tired, proud, and already talking about fall. One parent shared that her son was sad to see the week end and plans to sign up for football when registration opens.
The organizers thanked everyone involved and offered a special nod to Coach Andy Morsette for leading the camp.
The Agate Youth Football Camp has become a midsummer tradition in Two Harbors, a chance for kids to get outside, learn the sport, and meet the players they watch under the lights in September. This year’s group kept that tradition going, filling the camp with effort, instruction, and excitement that will surely carry into the season ahead.
