Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization present 2026 Aviation scholarships

Pictured right are members of the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization presenting the 2026 scholarship recipients with their aviation scholarship award. The presentation was made at the Arrowhead Eagles Annual Meeting at the Cook County Airport on May 16th.

Hans Mehlhaff, a senior at Cook County High School, received the $2,500 scholarship and plans to attend the Lake Superior College Aviation Program this fall. A secondary award of $1,500 was given to Mikaela Lindgren, a junior at Silver Bay High School, who is pursuing her pilot certificate and plans to enroll in UND’s aviation program next year.

Congratulations to both and good luck following your dream of becoming a professional pilot. With a strong group of applicants, those who did not receive an award are encouraged to apply again next year.

The Arrowhead Eagles offer an annual aviation scholarship to anyone in Cook and Lake Counties who aspires to become a pilot or follow an aviation career as mechanics, controllers, dispatchers and many other aviation career options. The Eagles are a Cook County based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who’s mission is to support Cook County Minnesota’s airport and aviation tradition through promoting aviation events, airport enhancements, youth-oriented activities & opportunities, and encourage community use and a friendly atmosphere at Cook County/Grand Marais airport.

This is the 7th scholarship awarded since 2020. Funds are raised through private donations and an annual fly-in/drive-in event at the Cook County/Grand Marais Airport.
