Softball

Two Harbors

The Agates played Carlton/ Wrenshall in an away game on April 28 and skunked them 8‑0. They used that momentum the following day for a game at South Ridge, where they won 14‑6.

They unfortunately lost their current streak against Proctor at the Rails’ field, 17‑2. Two Harbors next headed north to Silver Bay on May 4 and lost 20-10. 

They are booked for a double header against Cook County on Wednesday, May 6, with scores to be reported in a later issue of the Northshore Journal.

On May 8, they will have another chance against Silver Bay, who will travel to Two Harbors for the game. They also have a game scheduled against Mesabi East the same day.

Cook County

The Vikings were able to get a game in on April 25 against Ely, but lost 19‑0. On April 30, they played Floodwood at home and lost 39‑4. Chisholm made the trip up north on May 1, where Cook County fell 15‑5.

They played against Stella Maris Academy at Wade Stadium on May 4, with results not yet posted by press time.

Their schedule reflects games against McGregor and a doubleheader against Two Harbors on May 6. We will report on these games at a later date.

Silver Bay 

The Mariner streak continues. They won 8‑6 against South Ridge on April 28, then won 10‑0 against Carlton/Wrenshall the following day in a home game. Cromwell‑Wright came to visit on April 30, with the Mariners winning 12‑2. 

They hosted Two Harbors on May 4 and won against the Agates 20-10.

The girls are slated to play Ely on May 6, then Two Harbors at Two Harbors on May 8, with results to be reported. 

Baseball

Cook County 

Correction from last week: the Carlton/Wrenshall game on April 27 was not postponed. The game was played at Chub Lake Field, and the Vikings lost in their closest game of the year, 5‑4.

Cook County had games scheduled May 1 against Chisholm and May 4 against Hill City/ Northland. The Vikings are scheduled to play Mesabi East at Mesabi East on May 8 in a morning game. They will play Two Harbors at Two Harbors on May 11. The results of these games will be posted in next week’s Northshore Journal.

Silver Bay 

The team, whose head coach, Ward Wallin, is calling “The Mighty, The Mini, The Mariners of 26,” had a walk‑off winner in the 7th and beat Cromwell 4‑3 on April 30. On May 2, the team took a special trip to St. Cloud to play at Dick Putz Field. It was a beautiful day, and the Mariners won 8‑5 against St. John’s Prep. The W landed them at 7‑2 this season.

With a double header scheduled after press time against Two Harbors, we will report on those games in our next edition.

Two Harbors 

The Agates had a huge win against Carlton/Wrenshall, 10‑1. They lost against Proctor 10‑0 on April 30 at Proctor. They lost in a home game on May 1, 11‑5, against Chisholm. 

They will play a doubleheader against Silver Bay in Silver Bay on May 5. They also have a double header scheduled on May 8 against Moose Lake‑Willow River and Barnum.
