The North Shore Storm PeeWees and 12U Girls teams were escorted out of town in style this past weekend. Once each team was loaded on their coach bus, they were escorted out of their prospective hometowns by local law enforcement, fire departments and the Lake County Sheriff’s department while parents followed in parade-like fashion. With sirens wailing and lights flashing, fans cheered from the sidewalks and parking lots, waving and holding signs of encouragement and well wishes for their hometown teams.

State Consolation Champs!
Last weekend’s PeeWee B1 State Hockey tournament was a nail-biter for North Shore Storm parents and fans.
The boys began their State Tournament in Warroad, MN on Friday, March 17 with a loss of their first game of 5-4 in double overtime to Woodbury, who eventually went on to win the State Tournament. This loss put them on the consolation side of the tournament bracket. Their next game was the following day, Saturday, March 18, beating Litchfield 4-3 in another double overtime game! With only one more win needed between them and the consolation title, Sunday’s game matched them up with Roseville. The Storm was down 4-1 early, but they battled back to a 6-6 tie at the end of official game time. They were faced with yet another overtime game. The boys were not settling for anything less than a win and they got the outcome they fought for. The North Shore Storm PeeWee B1 team won in overtime (7-6) and brought home some hardware.
Congratulations to the entire PeeWee B1 team and coaches. You should be proud of your accomplishments – us fans certainly are proud of you!
North Shore Girls 12U Play at State
with Heart and Conviction
The North Shore Girls 12U team traveled to Faribault, MN for the State Tournament over the weekend of March 17-19. Their first game brought them up against Woodbury on Friday afternoon. A frustrating loss of 1-3 for the team didn’t bring them down. They enjoyed the rest of their evening with good food, relaxing, and lots of giggles (I’m sure).
Also on the consolation side of the bracket, Saturday’s game commenced at 2 p.m. against Marshall for a chance at the consolation title. The Storm struggled with getting the puck to the back of the net and lost 1-6.
There’s a lot to be said for a group of young girls who, through a lot of hard work and a love of the game, climbed their way uphill throughout the season and accomplished something they should be so very proud of, a trip to the State Tournament along with the friendships and memories they’ll have for a lifetime. Congratulations to the team and coaches on a great and memorable season.
