The Two Harbors Soccer Club: Winter Programming

Winter Indoor Sessions are the Two Harbors Soccer Club’s newest addition to their programming. Designed for youth ages 6-18, sessions focus on ball control, foot skills, and passing.

To teach the various skills needed for soccer, games are played to build soccer skills. Each session ends with a scrimmage. Due to the sessions’ location at the high school, the Two Harbors Soccer Club is very open to spectators; with many parents staying and watching their children participate. Attendance in the 6-11 age bracket is so high that the gym is divided into three groups during their session.

Soccer mom, Jess Breden, says she really likes “having the option of something to do over these winter weeks when it seems too cold to do anything. I like that they break into smaller groups more age-related, and do half [the session] time on skills and half time on scrimmaging.” 6-year-old Gracie Breden says, “I love going to play soccer.

My favorite part is when we actually get to play the game against each other.” Sessions are hosted on Friday nights at the Two Harbors High School gym. The season runs January through March, with ages 6-11 meeting from 6:30 to 7:30, and ages 12-18 meeting from 7:30 to 8:30. Two Harbors Soccer Club has both a website (www.twoharborssoccer.com) and a Facebook page. Registration, which is $70, links out to Sports Engine.

Haley Searls
Hello! My name is Haley Searls. I’ve loved writing from an early age, though my nonfiction writing at five years old consisted mainly of weather and gardening reports. I still have some of those early articles: “It’s sunny.” “It’s still sunny.” “It’s raining.” I’m glad to say my writing has improved since then. I wrote a guest post for the Silver Bay Public Library blog, and was the writer/editor of the newsletter for my American Heritage Girls troop. I have been writing for the North Shore Journal since June 2022. Besides writing, I love reading, drawing, photography, music, and spending time with family and friends. Two books that have really influenced my writing are Reforming Journalism by Marvin Olasky and Writer to Writer by Bodie and Brock Thoene. As a journalist, I want to share positive community interactions and inspire people to make lasting connections. Article topics that interest me are ones which show community activities and involvement. Such articles include community events, youth accomplishments, library programming, small businesses, local history, local artists and authors, art programs, and cultural events such as theater and dance. If you have an article idea, email the North Shore Journal with my name in the subject line! I look forward to hearing from you!
