Silver Bay Police Receive Kawasaki Side-by-Side Donation from Seagren’s Powersports

The Silver Bay Police Department made a significant announcement last week. Thanks to the generosity of Seagren’s Power Sports in Two Harbors and the Kawasaki corporation, they have received a donation of a Kawasaki TeryX4 side-by-side (SxS). This timely contribution arrived just in time for the 2025 ATV Ride and Rally in Silver Bay, a testament to the department’s commitment to public safety and community events.

The Kawasaki TeryX4, a specialized type of SxS designed for off-road use, is the latest addition to the Silver Bay Police Department’s fleet. This four-passenger vehicle, with two seats in the front and two in the back, is renowned for its robust construction and focus on trail riding and adventure, including search and rescue. Equipped with a V-twin engine, four-wheel drive, and a compact chassis for maneuverability on narrow, winding trails, it is a perfect fit for the department’s emergency response needs.

Scott Seagren, owner of Seagren’s Power Sports in Two Harbors, orchestrated the donation. With the commitment from Kawasaki, Seargren contacted Silver Bay Police Chief Cole Ernest to see if he and his department would like to use an SxS at no charge to improve public services. This no-charge one-year lease is part of Kawasaki’s promotional program and is a clear demonstration of the community’s support for its first responders. It’s a collaborative effort that provides the necessary equipment for emergencies in smaller communities.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, the Silver Bay Police Department expressed its gratitude for the donation and outlined its strategic plans for the SxS. The department intends to use the vehicle for a range of operations, including rescue missions and medical emergencies within the city and its surrounding areas. This new addition will be particularly beneficial in the backcountry, on the numerous ATV and hiking trails, and during community events, significantly enhancing public safety and the department’s emergency response capabilities.

Seagren, a lifelong resident of Two Harbors, emphasizes the importance of caring for his community. “Over the years, the community took care of me and my family,” he said. He’s especially considerate of caring for the kids in the community, which is why he’s hosting an ATV training course in the store’s parking lot for young people, conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s office, on October 11. This course educates young ATV enthusiasts about safe riding practices, thereby promoting public safety and community involvement.
