We’ll have more to share soon about KTWH’s big 10th Birthday Bash musical celebration from 2-4 PM on September 21st at Castle Danger Brewery. Rox ‘n Soul will open for Big Wave Dave and the Ripples.
KTWH is community radio with a lake view, a volunteer driven, listener supported grassroots medium built and operated by community members who have been sharing local news and events as well as a rich menu of music since September of 2015. KTWH turns 10 years old on September 13th and their third season of Catch the Wave musical events is a great opportunity to acknowledge this milestone.
This Sunday KTWH will kick off Catch the Wave 2025 at 2 PM at the Paul Gauche Band Shell in Thomas Owens Park. Duluth singer-songwriter Teague Alexy opens the season in style. Teague has been many places and it shows up in his songs and his performances. He’s toured far and wide with brother Ian in their group, the Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. Though he hails from New Jersey, Teague has been in our neck of the woods long enough to have the restless spirit of a Midwestern heart show up in his wild and witty lyrics and his musical delivery. Teague has many influences but his style is true to his inner wanderer.
The show on August 17th is headlined by the Kettle River Trio from way down in Pine County. The roots go deep with these guys, who feature serious pickin’, strummin’, and thumpin’ bass along with onstage displays of athletic prowess.
Songwriters Nathan Frazer and Brian Schaefer both lend their solid vocals, rhythm guitar, and harmonica grooves, and Mike Schaefer keeps the rhythm on bass. Their repertoire includes traditional music, blues, rock, folk, alt country…. from cool covers to the trio’s own stream-of- conscious jazz improvisational notes.
KTWH invites one and all to come down to the band shell in downtown Two Harbors this Sunday from 2-4 PM for great music and some free ice cream treats courtesy of Harbor Insurance. This free will concert is hosted by KTWH, community radio at 99.5 FM, streaming online at ktwh.org. This season’s Catch the Wave events are sponsored by the generous support of Lovin’ Lake County, Anderson’s Greenhouse, and Castle Danger Brewery.
