THFCU’s Willert named Outstanding Credit Union Professional of the Year

TWO HARBORS, Minn. – Randy Willert, President & CEO of Two Harbors Federal Credit Union (THFCU), has been named the 2025 Outstanding Credit Union Professional of the Year. The award, conferred annually, is the highest industry honor delivered by the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN).

Willert joins an elite group of industry leaders to receive the designation. “I am humbled,” he said, “Over the course of my career I have seen some of my personal mentors and heroes receive this honor. To be the recipient of the same recognition is truly indescribable.”

Award documentation referenced Willert’s significant contributions to the success of Two Harbors Federal Credit Union, a financial cooperative serving thousands of members with over $110 million in assets. In his 13 years of leadership, he is responsible for launching dozens of new products, a robust menu of digital and mobile services, a comprehensive rebranding, and much more. Willert was the catalyst behind THFCU’s move to their present location, building a new full service facility to meet the needs of the growing credit union membership.

THFCU has outpaced their peers in financial performance as well. Just this year THFCU was recognized as a top-performing U.S. credit union by S&P Global Market Intelligence, besting nearly 1,800 credit unions from across the country.

Beyond THFCU, Willert has served the industry in numerous capacities, including executive-level roles on boards for the Minnesota Credit Union Network, the MnCUN Health Association, the Central Minnesota Chapter of Credit Unions, and the Arrowhead Chapter of Credit Unions.

Perhaps more notable then his many designations is Willert’s commitment to a simple, yet meaningful, mission. The award nomination, in part, read, “People Helping People is the foundational philosophy of the credit union movement, but it is undoubtedly Randy’s personal credo as well. It is no coincidence that the two found each other, and it is clear Randy is exactly where he belongs.”

Upon receiving the award Willert echoed that sentiment. “That philosophy is not just a slogan — its really what we do as a credit union, and what I strive to do every day. Helping people is what motivates me. It’s my passion.”
