Supporting the North Shore: Superior Fuel’s Commitment to Silver Bay and Beyond

As the last remaining local propane company servicing the North Shore, Superior Fuel is excited to announce our plans to build a hub location with 30,000-gallon propane storage, service building, and a dedicated delivery truck and service boom truck at the intersection of Highway 1 and 61 in Illigen City, MN. This new facility will help us better serve our current customers and offer a more reliable and affordable option for all residents along the North Shore. Investing in this robust hub reinforces our dedication to the communities we serve with faster service, better pricing, and enhanced convenience. For years, our company has been proud to offer affordable and dependable propane services to homes and businesses in the region. As the last locally owned propane provider in this area, we recognize how limited options can expose customers to the risks of market monopolies. This challenge is further heightened by the presence of large, multi-billion-dollar corporations like Thompson Gas, a private equity-backed company that owns both Como Oil and North Shore Oil. When a major player dominates the market, prices rise and service quality often becomes stagnant, leaving residents and businesses with fewer choices and reduced flexibility.

We aim to break that cycle by providing a local, community-focused alternative combining competitive prices and superior service. The addition of this hub location will enable us to hire local delivery drivers and service technicians who will be based right in the area. These local employees will help ensure faster, more personalized service, shorter wait times, and exceptional value for our customers. Our investment in this location is more than just improving delivery times; it’s about empowering residents and businesses with choices. It’s about giving the community a chance to regain control over their propane services, ensuring they aren’t held captive by one major player in the market.

By building a propane bulk plant North of Silver Bay, we are enhancing our delivery capacity, supporting the local economy, and strengthening our community ties. We believe in the “Buy Local, Stay Local” philosophy, which is why we are also committed to housing a service technician and a delivery driver in the area. This means that our customers will benefit from faster, more reliable service and the peace of mind that comes from working with a team that understands the unique needs of the North Shore. Our employees will be your neighbors, providing personal, responsive service that reflects our company’s values.

At Superior Fuel, customers always come first. We are a locally owned company deeply invested in our community. We believe that by building this bulk plant, we can continue to provide the high-quality propane services you’ve come to trust while offering even better options and competitive pricing. We understand how important it is to have a propane provider you can count on, and we want to be that trusted partner for families and businesses throughout the North Shore.

We hope the residents of the North Shore and the surrounding communities will support our efforts to improve propane service in our area. With your backing, we can move forward with our plans to build this bulk plant, keeping local dollars in our economy and ensuring that the North Shore has a reliable, community-driven propane provider for years to come.

Superior Fuel is proud to be part of this community and is excited to continue serving you with the best products, pricing, and customer service possible. Together, we can build a brighter, more sustainable future for the North Shore. At Superior Fuel, we’re not just delivering energy—we’re Fueling Your Way of Life.
