On behalf of the management and staff of the Northshore Journal, I want to apologize for the incorrect information about Lake County election results that were published in last week’s edition of the Journal. The facts are that 58.83% of Lake County residents voted in support of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz while 46.96% voted for Donald Trump and JD Vance. Full results can be found on the Secretary of State’s website https://electionresults.sos.mn.gov. Several of our readers have contacted us to point out this error. Lake County is one of 4 counties in the State that increased its percentage support for the Democratic nominees in comparison to the 2020 election results. It should also be noted that voters in the city of Two Harbors and across Lake County voted in support of DFL candidates Jen Schultz and Mark Munger over their opponents. Regarding the Silver Bay City election, there were only two Council seats that were open. Ben Bautch and James Fitzgerald won election for those positions with 29.8% and 23.7% of the votes respectively. Journalistic accuracy and integrity is of utmost importance at the North Shore Journal and we appreciate the fact that our readers hold us to this high standard. You deserve nothing less than our best efforts to bring you accurate information. Thank you for your efforts to hold us accountable.
