The Grand Marais Public Library launches its Read, Renew, Repeat summer reading program on Monday, June 10, 2024. Kids ages zero to 18 can choose between several ways of tracking their reading and learning activities and earning free books and other prizes. All the materials and instructions will be available at the library throughout the summer, so kids can start their chosen program at any time. Families can also register online to have a reading log mailed to them or prepared for them to pick up at www.grandmaraislibrary.org/kids.php. In addition to reading logs, the library will have theme-related activities all summer long, including:
- Weekly Story Time: Join us on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for stories, songs, and a simple craft for picture book lovers and caregivers.
- Crafternoon: Try out a variety of upcycled and recycled crafts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2-4 p.m.
- Tabletop RPG Club (ages 10+): Want to try out role-playing games (RPGs) but not sure about committing to a whole D&D campaign? This club will meet on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. to try out shorter RPGs like Munchkin, Fiasco, Avalon, and more!
- Library Scavenger Hunts: Follow clues around the library each week to be entered in a prize drawing.
- “Where’s Bruce” Guessing Game: Our summer reading mascot, Bruce the bear keeps escaping the library and taking selfies all over town! Figure out where he’s been each week to be entered in a prize drawing.
Special events and guest performers include Comic Stunt Juggler Tuey (June 20th), Peregrine Falcons with Jackie Fallon (July 17th), Will Hale and the Tadpole Parade (July 27th), and more! The program concludes with a Celebration Picnic on Friday, August 9, 2024, featuring Will Sings Songs. Keep an eye on the library website (www.grandmaraislibrary.org) and Facebook and Instagram pages (@grandmaraislibrary) for announcements, or call the library at (218) 387-1140 to learn more about our summer reading adventures!
