Grand Marais, Minn., May 20, 2024 –– WTIP Community Radio is excited to announce the 2024 Radio Waves Music Festival, Sept. 6 to 8, at Sweetheart’s Bluff in the Grand Marais Recreation Area. This marks the 17th year of this community festival, which showcases three days of live music under the big sky and bright stars on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Twenty local, regional and national acts will join us in the park, including Keith Secola, Annie Humphrey, Dan Israel & Steve Brantseg and the return of John Ellison and The Carpenter Ants. WTIP welcomes seven acts new to Radio Waves, including local talent Emma Tweten, and Blues/ Rock duo from Duluth The Brothers Burn Mountain and Americana duo Between Howls. The weekend features a great lineup representing many different musical genres including: Sam Miltich & the Clearwater Hot Club, SaltyDog, Rich Mattson & the Northstars, Al Oikari & Caitlin Nicol-Thomas, North Shore Swing Band, Fish Heads, The Splints, Barbara Jean Meyers & Mike Lewis, Kenna Rose, Eli Bentley, Portage, Lojo Russo and Zulu Link! Festival hours are Friday, 4 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Radio Waves, a community music festival on the North Shore, is held rain or shine, with stages housed under a large tent. The event includes on-site food vendors and a community partner tent. WTIP offers $50 pre-sale weekend passes online at wtip.org. Daily admission available at the gate, is $20 per day. WTIP is happy to share that admission is free to teens and kids 17 and under. Campsite reservations at the Grand Marais Rec Park are recommended.
