Service Spotlight: Behavioral Health Services

Liv Thompson
Outreach Coordinator
Sawtooth Mountain Clinic

In September of 2024, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic (SMC) was awarded a grant to support expansion of behavioral health services. Over the next two years, SMC is expected to receive over $900,000 from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) – an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) – to increase access to services such as outpatient therapy, substance use treatment, and recovery support.

Last year, we successfully grew our Behavioral Health Team from 3 to 4 full-time licensed providers. Since receiving the behavioral health expansion grant, we have been able to add 2 additional full-time licensed providers, as well as support staff. The grant also allowed us to expand our Behavioral Health Suite, which is located in a quiet, private area of the clinic. This increase in behavioral health capacity has led and will continue to lead to increased appointment availability and ease of access to high-quality, affordable behavioral health care and substance use treatment and recovery support for our community.

Our Behavioral Health Team offers client-centered, trauma-informed mental health services for individuals, couples, and families. Our providers are licensed clinicians that work with adults, teens, and children experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management and more. Services are offered Monday through Friday at Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and on Tuesdays at Grand Portage Health Services. Call the clinic at 218-387-2330 for scheduling or visit our website to learn more about the Behavioral Health Team.
