On Friday, February 14th, the Friends of the Silver Bay Public Library held a sweetheart of an event to raise funds in support of the good work of the library. It was a fun event for library lovers to attend on the official day of love, Valentine’s Day.
The library offered several activities for attendees to participate in at the Love Your Library Fundraiser. Located in the new addition of the library, there was a Valentine’s making area where people made Valentines to express their love for the library. Those valentines were then hung on the Love your Library wall. They also offered a variety of tasty treats to enjoy. Everyone had an opportunity to decorate cookies, visit the hot chocolate bar, and enjoy a cupcake (or maybe two). One of the most popular activities at the fundraising event was the photo booth. Many took the opportunity to get a photo with their sweetheart, friends, and family. Attendees also took photos with their favorite book.
About 50 people in attendance celebrated their love for the library by offering their handwritten valentines and through at-will donations. The library raised over $1,600 through the fundraising event. If you would like to donate, the library is still accepting donations for the fundraiser through the end of the month. Stop in to the Silver Bay Public Library and write your valentine to the library. It will be placed on their “Love Your Library” wall. People can donate in person or online. The Friends of the Silver Bay Public Library invite anyone to become a friend of the library. There is no cost to become a member! You can sign up in person at the library or on the Friends of the Silver Bay Public Library website.
Don’t forget to check out the Silver Bay Library’s upcoming events. On February 24th at 10:30 am they are offering a AARP Wish of Your Lifetime Program. On the 2nd Friday of the month at 1:30 pm, the library will have Tettegouche Naturalist Kurt Mead head up a natural history talk. On Tuesdays at 5 pm, the library has a Shut-up and Write program for those interested in sharing space while they work on their writings.
