Daughter Sponsors Bingo ‘Fun’ Raiser in Honor of Mother

When Susanne Kelley Bullock reflects on the life of her mother, Sharon Kelley, she thinks of how caring she was.

“My mom was always there for me,” said Susanne. “She was the most giving and kind person that I know. She never said no to helping others.”

To honor that memory, Susanne is sponsoring a Bingo “Fun Raiser” with prizes at North Shore Area Partners at 2 p.m., Friday, May 30. There is no cost to play.

Susanne said that everyone in town knew her mom.

“Mom was very social and active in the community, involved with everything from president of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, captain of the bowling league and pitcher on the softball team. She also worked at the clinic and bank during her career.”

At home, Susanne and her four siblings could count on their mom baking delicious homemade pies and cinnamon rolls.

Sharon loved all sorts of games, playing cards and watching Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy on TV.

The apple didn’t fall far from the tree. As the oldest daughter of five children, Susanne was very close to her mom and helped her out with everything, including taking care of her brother and sisters. Susanne was even a part of the weekly family meeting with her mom and dad where they planned for the week ahead.

Susanne said, “Mom instilled morals, values and generosity. I want to give back to the community where she lived to honor her.”

Sharon died January 10, 2022, at the age of 80 years old.
