Agates Edge Out Cherry in a Thrilling 44-41 Victory

The Two Harbors girls bas­ketball team secured a hard-fought 44-41 win against Cherry on December 17th. “Our defense stepped up,” said Head Coach Gavin Bopp. “They were very physical, and our girls held their own.”

The game was a nail-bit­er from start to finish. The Agates held a narrow one-point lead at halftime, and the competition remained fierce throughout. Rachel Bopp delivered an out­standing performance, scoring 27 points, including five 3-pointers. Her efforts earned praise from the Du­luth News Tribune.

“To hold them to 42 points is very good for us,” added Coach Bopp, highlighting the team’s defensive grit. The junior varsity squad also celebrated a win that night, outscoring their Cherry counterparts by 15 points.

The Agates varsity team, now 3-5, is gearing up for the Hoops for Hope Tourna­ment in Ely on the weekend of December 27th, where they’ll face Cook County in the first round.

Mariners and Vikings Face Schedule Changes

The December 19th match­up between the Cook County and Silver Bay girls teams was postponed. The Vikings recently fell to Northwoods, while the Mariners showed promise in a close game against the Duluth Denfeld Hunters, falling short by just six points.

Boys Teams Ready for Holiday Tournament

The Two Harbors boys bas­ketball team is returning to action after a brief break, preparing for the Holi­day Tournament in Ely the weekend of the 27th. Cook County will also partici­pate, setting the stage for exciting matchups.
